- The Union Government has appointed former Reserve Bank of India governor Bimal Jalan as the head of the panel that has been tasked with selecting India’s next chief economic advisor (CEA).
- The next edition of Aero India will be held in Bengaluru, Karnataka from February 20 to 24, 2019, Defence Ministry announced. This five-day event will combine a major trade exhibition for the aerospace and defence industries with public air shows. Yelahanka Air Force station in Bengaluru has hosted all the 11 editions of Aero India so far and has emerged as a premier air show in Asia.
INTERNATIONAL
- President Ram Nath Kovind was in the Czech Republic on the last leg of 3-nation Europe tour. He met Prime Minister Andrej Babis of Czech Republic. India and the Czech Republic signed five agreements as part of President Kovind’s visit.
- The three-day World Hindu Congress has begun in Chicago, the USA. Over 2000 delegates from across the globe are participating in this mega event.The theme of World Hindu Congress is ‘think collectively, achieve valiantly’.

- State Bank of India (SBI) has appointed Anshula Kant as Managing Director of the Bank. She has been appointed to the post for 2 years.
SPORTS
- Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric has been named UEFA Men’s Player of the Year for 2017/18. Modric beat off competition from former Madrid team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.
- Indian shooter Hriday Hazarika notched up a gold medal in the 10 m air rifle junior men’s event of the ISSF World Championships in South Korea.
