  • The 68th Annual Prime time Emmy Awards honoured the best in U.S. prime time television programming from June 1, 2015 until May 31, 2016, as chosen by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
  • The ceremony was held on September 18, 2016 at the Microsoft Theater in Downtown Los Angeles, California, and was broadcast in the U.S. by ABC
  • An Emmy Award, or simply Emmy, recognizes excellence in the television industry, and corresponds to the Academy Award (for film), the Tony Award (for theatre), and the Grammy Award (for music)
  • The awards was first given in the year 1949 and is originally referred to as simply the “Emmy Awards” until the first Daytime Emmy Award ceremonies were held in the 1970s, and the word “prime time“ was added to distinguish between the two.
