Chandrayaan-3 is on its Journey to the Moon

“I reached my destination and you too” From hoping to successfully land we “THE INDIA” did it. From  14th July 2023 (2:35 pm IST)to 23rd of August 2023(06:04 pm IST)  we created a great history. Chandrayaan-3, the latest successful Indian lunar exploration mission, falls under the Chandrayaan program led by ISRO. Chandrayaan-3 shows India’s strong dedication to studying the Moon. It wants to improve upon the success of previous missions by using better methods. Like a new and improved version. The mission incorporates a lander named “VIKRAM” and a rover named “PRAGYAN”, akin to those utilized in Chandrayaan-3. The propulsion module functions as an orbiter, carrying the lander and rover setup until reaching a lunar orbit of 153 × 163 km. “PRAGYAN” in the Sanskrit language is “wisdom”.

The core aim of this mission is to analyze the lunar geology, offering valuable insights into the Moon’s composition. This endeavor could potentially enhance our comprehension of the celestial body’s history and contribute to a deeper understanding of Earth’s satellites. Alpha Particle X-ray spectrometer (APXS) will derive the chemical composition and infer the mineralogical composition of the lunar surface. Laser Induced Breakdown Spectroscope (LIBS) will determine the elemental composition (Mg, Al, Si, K, Ca, Ti, Fe) of lunar soil and rocks around the lunar landing site.

More About Chandrayaan 3 Mission:

Shortly after landing, one side panel of the Chandrayaan-3 lander will unfold, creating a ramp for the rover. The rover will emerge from the lander’s belly, drive down the ramp, and begin exploring the lunar environment. The solar-powered lander and rover will have about two weeks to study their surroundings. They are not designed to survive the chilly lunar night. The rover can only communicate with the lander, which communicates directly with Earth. ISRO says the Chandrayaan-2 orbiter can also be used as a contingency communications relay.

In December 2019, news emerged that ISRO had sought an initial project fund of ₹75 crore (approximately US$9.4 million). Of this, ₹60 crores (around US$7.5 million) was intended for covering costs related to machinery, equipment, and capital expenses. The remaining ₹15 crore (about US$1.9 million) was requested for revenue expenditures.
