Learning Zones Within Banking

Learning Zones Within BankingDear Sehpaathians,

With Results of IBPS All Grades are out, we have been asked by many aspirants on what are the big learning zones within Banking. Here is a post which gives you a complete idea

Banking is not just deposits , taking loans, but there is much more other than these aspects. Banking is a very vast field where learning is available from the time you join bank to the time when you will retire. Everyday there is a chance to learn new things, different profiles and you can enjoy every moment,  but work very cautiously. Remember you are dealing with taxpayer money.

  • General Banking: This is the most generalized thing we do in banking. It includes daily transaction of customers, doing all sorts of NEFT, RTGS etc payments. This is the most important part of banking because this is the gateway to customer services.

Why Jobs in Banking Sector are set to decrease

  • Advances: Advances are the bread and butter earners for banks. Banks recieve interest on the advances they give. In today’s time newly joined probationary officers are asked to start documenting loan proposals after 6 months in service. Due to shortage of middle management staff in banks, you might be asked to appraise loans during your 2nd year of service. But Being a newcomer you enjoy imunity as per govt. of India rules which says that officers who have experience of less than 2 years can be used in loans only for learning purposes. Loan appraisals if done it will be treated as on training loans.
  • NEFT/RTGS cells: Very few candidates will get a chance to work in this cell of the bank which deals only with NEFT and RTGS payments and resolve issues if any.
  • Foreign Exchange: Usually you get this posting after 5 years in service and on the background that you have already gone through the prescribed course for the same. A few banks also focus on complete training program on foreign exchange done abroad.

  • Rural Assignment: It is a mandatory part of your banking journey. You are asked to work in rural areas for a minimum time of 3 years in banking career and promotions from Usually Scale III (Senior Manager) have a mandatory rural assignment clause within them.
  • Technical Assignment: Though banks recruit Specialist officers for the same, you may also get a chance to work in technical assignment, helping branches to solve their technical woes. Very few candidates get this chance.

We wish a very good luck to all the newly joining banking members. Have a great future and do come up here if you face any difficulty. There are many more sectors where you can explore yourself. These are just a few
