Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha are the pillars of our democratic institutions in the country. Both of these are the houses of the Parliament of India which makes and amends all rules for the betterment of Indian Citizens. Lok Sabha is the lower house of the Parliament and is often known as ” House of the People” because all members of the lower lower house of parliament are directly elected by the Citizen of India. An elected member from a constituency represents the citizens of the constituency.

- Maximum number of members that can be elected to Lok Sabha are 552. (530 from states, 20 from Union Territories and 2 from Anglo Indian Community)
- Current strength of Lok Sabha is 545 members.
- Speaker and Deputy speaker of the house are elected from the members of Lok Sabha in the 1st meeting of the House.
- In a year, Lok Sabha has three sessions
Budget Session is held from February to May
Monsoon Session is held from July to September
Winter Session is held from November to December
