At any bank, the first point of contact for any customer to address his enquiries and to provide guidance is always a Bank Clerk. The role of SBI Clerk Junior Associate will be a versatile one. You will be tasked with the following duties and responsibilities.
Duties of SBI Clerk Junior Associate (Customer Support & Sales)
- Working on documentation and back-office work like ledger maintenance, balance tallying, data entry and more.
- Marketing of financial products of the bank such as loans, schemes, deposits, funds, etc.
- Making customer calls for selling banking services, advisory services and cross-selling products of the bank inside and outside the bank premises. This will require extensive outdoor travelling.
- Talking to customers to resolve their doubts and queries and giving them the right guidance.
- Manning the deposit/withdrawal counters i.e. play the part of a Single Window Operator. You will need to be comfortable with all financial instruments like cheques, demand drafts, challans and vouchers.
- Being responsible for the accounts of the customer by verifying and signing pertinent documents, countersigning and clearing cheques and drafts.
Duties of SBI Clerk Junior Agricultural Associate:
- Assisting in the lending and operations of providing financial assistance to small scale enterprises (not including small scale industries) such as fruit/vegetable vendors, artisans and self-employed individuals.
- Assisting farmers/small borrowers in all the processes and provide periodic updates.
- Scrutinizing applications and plans to ensure completeness, authenticity and viability.
- Verifying proper utilisation of the bank’s loans or the progress in work in respect of which loans are granted and to furnish reports on such verifications
- Encouraging farmers/small borrowers to mobilize funds and deposit their savings with the bank.
- Collecting information about all the relevant factors such as crops, land holdings, infrastructure, equipment, nearby credit facilities available to the farmer/small borrower.
- Maintaining liaison with Land Record & Registration Offices as well as other Governmental/Developmental agencies for expeditious handling of the banks’ work.

According to the SBI Clerk Notification, total starting emoluments of a Clerical Cadre employee payable at a Metro like Mumbai will be around Rs.20,950/- per month inclusive of D.A. and other allowances at current rate.
Pay-band in Class Y cities: Rs. 20,000/-
Pay-band in Class Z cities: Rs. 19,000/-
Junior Agricultural Associates are eligible to receive more amount of special pay by Rs. 490 per month.

Job Posting & Transfer:
- Vacancies for Junior Associates and Junior Agricultural Associates are provisional and to be filled state-wise (district-wise for candidates applying under the special recruitment drive for Tura, Kashmir & Ladakh) as well as category-wise.
- Candidates will be posted in the State/District for which they applied and cannot opt for inter/intra-state transfer in the first 5 years of service (or 8 years for those recruited under the Special Recruitment Drives for Tura, Kashmir & Ladakh).
- Junior Agricultural Associates will be posted in rural/semi-urban branches. On promotion to officer cadre they will continue in branches/cells in rural/semi-urban centers upto SMGS-V.
- Former and current employees of SBI in clerical or officer cadre are not eligible to apply.
- Candidates may choose to apply for any state provided they are comfortable speaking, reading and writing in the official language of that region. You can apply to any state in your circle as well, if you are not applying to your own state. For example, if you are from Delhi, you can apply to Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand circles.
- Candidates from Jammu may apply to Punjab, Himachal, Haryana.
