Union Railway Budget 2015-2016 – Main Highlights
List of main highlights about the Railway Budget 2015-16 which was presented by our Railway Minister Mr. Suresh Prabhu were given below:

Toll Free help line– 138, and security complaints- 182. This will work for 24 x 7 over all India.
- Surveillance Cameras will be placed in selected mainline coaches and in ladies compartments
- IRCTC will provide new modern facilities will be provided for disables, senior citizens, patients
- Separate Department for Railway Cleaning Process.
- Rs. 120 crores was allotted to provide lifts and escalators
- Mumbai – Ahmadabad Bullet train project proposed.
- 17,000 Bio-toilets in trains
- We can purchase the unreserved tickets from our smart phones using debit cards.
- Under the scheme of Digital India, will provide free Wifi in B Class stations.
- Facilities for mobile phone charging in all compartments.
- Transport Logistics Corporation of India will provide end to end logistics solutions.
- “Operation 5 minutes” is a scheme that allows the passengers to buy unreserved tickets within five minutes while entering the station.
- Railway minister has introduced a council called, “Kayakalp” to provide innovation ideas and business rearranging in railways.
- Passengers can book their tickets 120 days prior from the travel date (it was 60 days before).
- Passenger’s linen and bedding will be designed by “NIFT”.
- User friendly ladder for climbing upper berth will designed by National Institute of Design (NID).
- There is no change in train fare.
- The operation ratio of the railways in 2015-16 will be 88.5%.
