The SSC CGL 2016 exam has been announced & online registrations are underway for many government jobs in Group B & C cadre.

Many of the aspirants want to know the job roles & duties of posts under Group B & C Cadre. So, we are here with the job profiles of Group B & C posts.

Indian Audit & Accounts Department under CAG:

Assistant Audit Officer

This is the Newly added post to SSC CGL recruitment.11

The Indian Audit & Accounts Department is basically an organization which is responsible for auditing the accounts of Central & State Governments & Public sector companies.

It is the highest paid job (grade pay of Rs. 4800) among all the SSC CGL posts and there will be limited vacancies of this job.The job profile of AAO will be basically to help the auditing officer in conducting audits. Due to work AAO may also involve some travelling during the inspection.

 

Central Board of Excise & Customs:central-government-job

Inspector (Central Excise)  – Every year this post have high number of vacancies allotted due to indirect revenue that this department brings for the government. The duty of Inspector is to inspect the taxes/returns filed by companies, verify the correctness of claims submitted, process the data, maintain records etc. It is highly respected job among business owners & public.

Inspector (Preventive Officer)  – As the name suggests, the officer will be incharge of gathering information & acting based on that info to prevent malpractice. Sometimes Inspector also report during night time for certain operations.Posting will be mostly in cities that have ports/ airports.

Inspector (Examiner)  –  The work is limited to examining of items & verifying whether appropriate taxes have been levied on goods moving in & out of the port. Work locations will be mostly in coastal region. Very less no. of positions only allotted.

Income Tax Inspector – This post comes under Group C & could involve lot of travelling but inspectors are eligible allowances. Job profile includes assessing, verifying, processing IT records of individuals & business concern etc. They would also be a part of teams conducting raids. Overall, a respectable job but carries certain amount of pressure as a work deals a lot about other people’s money.

Tax Assistant – The duties of tax assistant are more like that of a clerical grade officer.the persons under this post may be engaged in regular administrative work & providing support to their higher officers.

Directorate of Enforcement, Directorate of Revenue:

Assistant Enforcement Officer – The job profile is similar to that of an inspector job that involves inspecting, preventing & arresting those into money laundering/forgery etc. Posting will be only in enforcement directorate offices.

 

Department of Posts:

Inspector of Posts – Under this post the person is responsible for acquiring & promoting business growth for post offices that come under his/her control. The person have to travel but allowances shall be provided. There could be some little pressure to improve performance.

 

Central Bureau of Narcotics:head1

Inspector – Basically this post is to keep a check on the cultivation of opium poppy in India & conduct periodic checks in companies to ensure that it is not used illegally.They may also have to monitor the imports/exports for any smuggling of banned narcotic drugs.

Sub Inspector – It shall have frequent travels to ensure non entry of narcotic drugs into the state border.More or less the work will be similar to the inspector expect sub inspector have to do more field work than inspector.

 

Central Secretariat Services:

Assistant Section Officer – These people are appointed in various ministries and are required to prepare notes, reports etc. which are then sent to their supervisors who then pass it to ministers or preserve it as record. Basically, it is a pure desk only job & that too only in New Delhi without any pressure.

 

Registrar General of India:

Compiler – The person is responsible for census and posted in Statistical division, in-charge of compiling the collected information through various means.

 

Ministry of Railways:

Assistant – The job is more of clerical type but in terms of grade it is Upper Division Clerk.It is considered as favourite post of many of the candidates because of good perks,posting in capital city i.e. Delhi and discounted railway passes for travelling anywhere in India.

 

Ministry of External Affairs:ministry-of-external-affairs

Assistant – As an Assistant you would be required to do administration work only and posted mostly in India but have possibility to post outside India after few years of job.

 

Intelligence Bureau:

Assistant – Basically the 90% work is related to computer or data oriented.Posting could be at state headquarters in IB cell if there are vacancies or may be directly positioned in Delhi.

Central Vigilance Commission:

Assistant – The work of an Assistant is to update the case files, liaison with the respective departments & collect the required information, record keeping & performing duties as laid by the rules. 

 

Armed Forces Headquarters:

Assistant – They shall be posted in Armed Forces Headquarters in Delhi.It is purely an indoor job wherein the person need to assist the section officer in imparting his duties of management, distribution & coordination of work to staff.

Central Bureau of Investigation:

Sub Inspectors – Central Bureau of Investigation doesn’t requires any introduction as it is one of the most respected organization in India & a SI also commands an equal amount of respect.The job is similar to that of state police but CBI has more power due to the job of central government.

 

National Investigation Agency:nia380

Sub Inspectors – The job of SI in NIA involves lot of travel, collecting evidence from sites, gather intelligence inputs regarding terrorists etc. The job has more work load as compared to other posts and you have to spend more time.

Offices Under CAG:

Divisional Accountant – They are normally seated in public works department of a state thereby auditing the expenses of works/projects carried out by that state government.Very less travelling with posting in offices located at various Indian cities.

Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation:Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MOSPI)

Statistical Investigator Grade II – The person holding statistical degree will be eligible for this post. Data collection & plotting of that information useful for government to implement scheme is the core responsibility of this post.Overall, a decent job for the candidates.
