IBPS RRB 2017 : Doubts and Clarifications

Hello Friends,

As you all know that finally RRB today released it’s notification for recruitment of various post. RRB’s recruitment of Group “A”-Officers (Scale-I, II & III) and Group “B”-Office Assistants (Multipurpose) will be conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) tentatively in September and November 2017.

So, we are here with the doubts and clarifications of those at this platform.

DOUBT: What are the posts available under this recruitment project?

CLARIFICATION: The posts which will be available in this recruitment project are Office Assistant(Multipurpose), Officer Scale I, Officer Scale II and Officer Sale III.
DOUBT: How many vacancies are there?
CLARIFICATION: The number of vacancies is 8298 for Office Assistant and 5124 for Officer Grade-I
DOUBT: Can I apply from multiple states.
CLARIFICATION: You you can only apply from one state and have to give preference among different RRB’s in that state.

DOUBT: When will the registration start?
CLARIFICATION: Registration will start from 24.07.2017 and will end on  14.08.2017.
DOUBT:  I have scored 55% in Graduation. Am I eligible to sit for the exam?
CLARIFICATION:  Yes, you can apply as there is no percentage criterion. You just need to be a graduate.
DOUBT: Are Calculators allowed in the exam?
CLARIFICATION:  No, You are not allowed to use any electronic device including calculators in the exam.
DOUBT: I am 19 years old. Can I sit for the exam?
CLARIFICATION:  Yes, You must be at least 18 years of age to apply for both the posts of Officer Scale-I and Office Assistants.
DOUBT: When will be the exam conducted?
CLARIFICATION: The Tentative dates for Preliminary Exams are expected to be on Officer Scale-I – 09.09.2017, 10.09.2017 and 16.09.2017 (if required)  and Office Assistant- 17, 23 & 24.09.2017 (if required).
The Tentative dates for Mains Examination are: Officers Scale-I – 05.11.2017 and Office Assistant – 12.11.2017
DOUBT: What is the application Fee?
CLARIFICATION: Rs. 100/- for SC/ST/PWD candidates.
Rs. 600 /- for all others
DOUBT: Will the exam be conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?
CLARIFICATION: Common Written Exam for RRB is being conducted by IBPS in online mode for both Prelims and Mains exams.
DOUBT: Is the exam Bilingual?
CLARIFICATION: The tests except for the Test of English Language/Hindi Language in Mains exam all others will be available bilingually, i.e. English and Hindi.
DOUBT:  What is the age criteria to apply for this common written exam?
CLARIFICATION: For Officer Scale- I (Assistant Manager)- Above 18 years – Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.07.1987 and later than 30.06.1999 (both dates inclusive)
For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) – Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should have not been born earlier than 02.07.1989 and later than 01.07.1999 (both dates inclusive)
DOUBT: What is the educational qualification required for various posts in this recruitment process?
CLARIFICATION:
For Office Assistants(Multipurpose): Graduate from a recognised University or its equivalent and Proficiency in the local language as prescribed by the participating RRBs along with desirable knowledge of Computer skills.
For Officer Scale-I: Graduate from a recognized University or its equivalent (Preference will be given to the candidates having degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry, Animal Husbandry, Veterinary Science, Agricultural Engineering, Pisciculture, Agricultural Marketing and Cooperation, Information Technology, Management, Law, Economics and Accountancy) and Proficiency in local language as prescribed by the participating RRBs along with desirable knowledge of Computer skills.
DOUBT: When will the results be declared?
CLARIFICATION: The result of Prelims will be tentatively be declared by Officer Scale-I – October 2017 and Office Assistant- October 2017.
The tentative date for Declaration of Result – Mains For Officers Scale-I and Office Assistant November 2017.
DOUBT: Will there be any interview after the written result?
CLARIFICATION: Yes, there will be interview process only for Officers Grade-I,II and III which will tentatively take place in December 2017. There is No Interview for Office Assistants.
DOUBT: I have given my final year graduation exams but the result has not been declared yet. Can I apply?
CLARIFICATION:  All the educational qualifications mentioned should be from a University/ Institution/ Board recognised by Govt. Of India/ approved by Govt. Regulatory Bodies and the result should have been declared on or before. 30.09.2016. Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before 14.08.2017. Proper document from Board / University for having declared the result on or before 14.08.2017 has to be submitted at the time of interview for the posts of Officers Scale I and at the time of joining for the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose).
DOUBT: Should I be careful while selecting the region?
CLARIFICATION: Yes, as you should be proficient in that region’s regional language and you might have to undergo a language proficiency test in the selection procedure.
DOUBT: Is there a criterion for negative marking?
CLARIFICATION: There is negative marking of ¼ marks for every wrong answer.
DOUBT:  Is there a sectional cut-off in the exam?
CLARIFICATION: Yes, there is a sectional cut-off in the exam. You have to clear every section
