Dear Friends,

Finally much awaited exam i.e. IBPS Probationary Officer’s Prelims exam day has come and the first slot of the exam is over now.

So now lets discuss how the first ever IBPS prelims was?

The paper which was composed of 3 sections – Quantitative Aptitude, Reasoning and English. The total time is 1 hour, so clearly speed, accuracy and planning was needed to do well in the exam.

The exam was overall moderate. The English section was moderate to Difficult, Reasoning was easy and doable and Mathematics section was moderate but was calculative and is the most time consuming section among all.
According to the analysis of IBPS PO Prelims 16th October Slot 1, the overall difficulty level of the paper was Moderate to Difficult.

Detailed Sectional Analysis

ENGLISH:

  • Reading Comprehension – 1 passage (10 questions)
  • Cloze test – 10 questions
  • Error spotting – 5 questions
  • Parajumbles – 5 questions

REASONING:

This section was time consuming with 4 puzzles. Today NO coding decoding questions in this section.

  • Inequalities – 5 questions
  • Syllogism – 5 questions
  • Blood relations – 2 questions
  • Directions – 3 questions
  • Ranking – 5 questions
  • Puzzles n Arrangements – 3 sets (15 questions)

QUANTITATIVE APTITUDE:

Questions were bit calculative. The topics were

  • Simplification – 5 questions
  • Number series – 5 questions
  • Quadratic Equation – 5 questions
  • Data Interpretation – 2 set (5 questions each)
  • Questions from other topics including Partnership, Time and Work, SI, Averages, Boat n Stream, Profit/Loss, Mixture n Alligation – 10 questions (easy to moderate)
