Group Discussion : Do and Don’t

Group discussion are a part of recruitment process of many private and government companies. In such a scenario it is essential to know the key do’s and dont’s in a group discussion.

What you must Do in A Group Discussion?

  • Dress Yourself nicely. Formal Dressing is recommended
  • Keep on writing notes on what others say. Write it in form of keywords. This would help you to cross question and frame your own opinion
  • While giving your view or opinion, quote a points taken up by other students as well. This would help you to make your point clearer. You can also point a question to another student and in case other student wasn’t attentive enough, you score extra points
  • Be Attentive.
  • Sit straight and Be Confident
  • Be polite and honest
  • Lead the group discussion session from the front if you have well known about the topic. Speaking first and leading give your extra marks.
  • Maintain an eye contact when you speak. It shows your confidence
  • Be an active participant. Take chances and deliver your opinion. But at the same time, don’t over speak

What You must not do in a Group Discussion?

  • Interrupt anyone before your term comes.
  • Getting arrogant or over confident in giving your answer.
  • Group discussion is meant to show your awareness about a subject and how do you deliver your message. Don’t try to be someone else. In that case you will be never able to deliver your best.
  • Do speak like the PAPPU (Confused). Only Speak points in which you are sure.
