  • First visually impaired women IAS officer, Pranjal Patil takes charge as Sub-collector of Thiruvananthapuram. She took over from former collector B Gopalakrishnan.
  • RBI hikes withdrawal limit to Rs.40000/– by customers of PMC bank.
  • Oil and Natural gas Minister, Sh. Dharmendra Pradhan has requested Finance Minister Nirmala Sitaraman to include ATF (Aviation Fuel) and Natural Gas under the ambit of GST.

International

  • United States president Donald Trump has imposed sanctions on Turkey. US has been against Ankara’s cross border assault on Kurdish fighters after US decided to withdraw its troops from Syria.
  • Iran has alleges that Saudi Arabia was behind 2 rockets fired on its flagged oil tanker ship SABITI in the Red Sea port of Jeddah.
  • FATF will finalize its decision on Pakistan on October 18th 2019. It is expected for Pakistan to stay on Grey List citing support from Malaysia, Turkey and China.

Nobel Prize

  • Nobel prize in Economics 2019 has been awarded to an Indian Abhijeet Bannerjee, his wife Esther Duflo, and Michael Kremer. Esther Duflo is the second and the youngest person to be awarded the prize in Economic Sciences.

Business and Banking:

  • IRCTC stock listing on Share Market. Make investors richer by over 100%.
  • IRCTC IPO Subscribed by 112 times, highest for a PSU firm.

Sports:

  • Sourav Ganguly named the new BCCI President. He is the 2nd Indian captain after Maharaja of Vizianagaram to hold the top post in the BCCI. Sourav Ganguly is currently the chief of Cricket Association of Bengal. He will take hold of the post on 23rd October 2019.
