Can the Vacancies under IBPS PO 2017 Be 3500?

There is a speculation going on about the probable vacancies under IBPS PO 2017, citing a fake notification which showed the vacancies to be around 3500. We have been receiving several queries since then regarding the same and we are here with our observation.
Currently No of Banks which are under RBI’s Prompt Corrective Action:
- Currently there are only 4 Banks which are under RBI’s PCA
No of Banks which might come under RBI’s PCA by year end
- In view of the tightened NPA norms for banking industry it is expected that atleast 3 more banks including Bank of India and Bank of Baroda will be coming under RBI’s PCA
Is the figure of 3500 vacancies being quoted is justifiable:
According to our studies and assessment, there won’t be too much change in the number of vacancies being quoted. The only reason for this is Bad debt of bank which has been increasing every quarter. But the situation tends to improve in the next FY, which would mean RBI, easing sanctions.
Can there be Increased Vacancies in coming Years.
This entirely depends on 2 factors:
- How banks deal with their bad Debt and manage to keep the gross NPA’s below 10%.
- Merger talks are doing round in the market. If merger happens, there will be a decreased need for new resource atleast for a time of 2 years.
