How to Approach Reasoning Section in Bank Exams
Dear Friends,
As Many new surprises have been thrown in the exams by IBPS this year, especially in the mains phase. So, prepare yourself for changing patterns of different topics. However, do not forget to prepare the commonly asked topics as well in reasoning section.
Questions in Reasoning Ability section may be asked from the following topics –
- Seating Arrangement & Puzzles
- Syllogism
- Inequality
- Data Sufficiency
- Verbal Reasoning
- Input – Output
- Coding – Decoding
Besides these, you may come across questions based on following topics as well –
- Blood Relations
- Direction Sense
- Order and Ranking
- Alphanumeric Series
Approach to solve these types of questions and that too in new pattern:
- Do not be scared of the length or language of the question. All the information required to solve the question is provided in the question itself.
- All you need to do is observe logically and then substitute given information in the arrangement.
- Make sure that you consider all possible scenarios while attempting these questions
- Pattern of Syllogism was changed this year in IBPS PO Mains Exam. 2-3 conclusions were given in the question and set of statements were provided different options. You had to identify that given conclusion logically follows which of the given set of statements. In order to solve such questions, draw the venn diagram for statements given in options. Then take up the conclusion and identify which set of statement renders the given conclusions true
- In case coded inequality is asked, try to write down the inequality sign for given codes/symbols first. After that attempt the question, i.e. directly substitute the symbol with inequality sign and answer accordingly
- In Verbal Reasoning You may encounter questions from the following topics in this category- Statement and Argument / Assumption / Conclusion / Course of action
Cause and Effect/Deriving Conclusions from passage. While attempting the questions, go through the statement properly first and try to understand what exactly it suggests. Go through the assumptions then and try to analyse if these can be assumed based on the information in statement. Do not make your own Assumptions - In coding decoding Normal sentence coding was modified. Instead of providing codes of entire word, codes based on single letter of a word, no. of letters present in that word and first letter of that word were combined to form a new code
