Understanding Meaning of Cloze Test:
Cloze test is aimed to judge your knowledge of English grammar, your command over vocabulary and your common intelligence. In a cloze test, usually a passage or sentences are given with ten or twelve blank spaces. Candidates are required to fill in the blanks with appropriate word out of the given options. The purpose of the cloze test is to judge the grammatical knowledge, vocabulary power and the common sense of the candidate.
Attempting Cloze Test Questions – Tips & Tricks
The candidate must go through the whole passage or sentence before starting to answer the questions. Sometimes in a passage cloze test one or two blanks appear somewhat difficult to answer or seem to have more than one correct answer. The answer of these blanks may have some links with the next sentences, so it is always better to read out the whole passage first. If you are unable to understand the theme of the passage in first shot, go through the passage again. Second reading will make you understand the passage comfortably.

- Try to link the sentences together
- Carefully look at the blanks and assess the correct word
- Be clear about noun, verb and articles
- Eliminate options
- Check the tone and narration of the sentence
- Go with the words which are frequently used by you
- Build up your language skills
At last if you are sure then immediately mark the correct answer otherwise make the right choice through the process of elimination of certain words that are irrelevant.
