  • SEBI lays down stricter norms for statutory auditors and has asked all listed entities and material subsidiaries to ensure that an auditor issues the audit report, if he or she is tendering resignation, within 45 days from the end of a quarter.
  • Food regulators found nearly 93% of the milk samples safe for human consumption.
  • Kolkata’s Presidency University to have separate wall with 3D images of Nobel Laureates Amartya Sen, Abhijit Banerjee.
  • CJI Ranjan Gogoi recommends Justice SA Bobde as his successor. Gogoi is set to retire on November 17, and Bobde is the second senior-most judge of the top court.

International

  • Johnson & Johnson Recalls Baby Powder After Tests Show Asbestos In sample. J&J faces more than 15,000 lawsuits from consumers claiming its talc products, including Johnson’s Baby Powder, caused their cancer. Asbestosis is a serious, chronic, non-cancerous respiratory disease. Inhaled asbestos fibers aggravate lung tissues.
  • FATF gives Pakistan time till February 2020 to act on terror financing. The terror funding watchdog failed Pakistan on 22 of its 27 parameters. Pakistan will stay in the Grey list of FATF.
  • NASA Astronauts Jessica Meir and Christina Koch will perform a spacewalk to replace the broken battery charger. This spacewalk would be the 1st spacewalk conducted by only women Astronauts

  • ITC to invest 700 crores in food park in Madhya Pradesh.

Sports:

  • Pakistan names Azhar Ali and Babar Azam as captains for Tests and T20’s respectively.
