Nobel Prize
- Nobel prize in Economics 2019 has been awarded to an Indian Abhijeet Bannerjee, his wife Esther Duflo, and Michael Kremer. Esther Duflo is the second and the youngest person to be awarded the prize in Economic Sciences.

Sports:
- Sourav Ganguly named the new BCCI President. He is the 2nd Indian captain after Maharaja of Vizianagaram to hold the top post in the BCCI. Sourav Ganguly is currently the chief of Cricket Association of Bengal. He will take hold of the post on 23rd October 2019.
