So, here are some Time Management Tips for SSC CHSL Tier I that will guide you to the path of success!

Make note of these things before your Exam!

  • Try to solve everything mentally.
  • Keep the rough sheet for basic calculations only.
  • Every question will fetch you the same marks regardless of its difficulty level. Hence, spending more than the allotted time on a question will only result in you losing marks and time.
  • Finally, if you have to skip some questions, don’t worry about them. Also, if you are stronger in a particular section, spend less time on it and give more time to other sections.

Time Management Tips for SSC CHSL – Quantitative Aptitude

  • Make sure to avoid lengthy calculations by solving easier questions first.
  • Try to attempt DI, Simplification, Quadratic Equations, etc. first. This section asks questions related to Simplification, Number System, Geometry, Data Interpretation, Probability, Average, Percentage, Ratio & Proportion, Interest, Algebra, Profit & Loss, Time & Work, Time Speed & Distance, Number Series, etc.
  • The secret to success to be well-aware of the topic-specific formulaes and concepts. If you rely on Guess-work, you will only waste your time and get negative marks.

Time Management Tips for SSC CHSL – Reasoning

  • Timing is essential in the reasoning section. Some questions are harder than the others. If you are unable to solve a question, skip it.
  • Attempt those questions which you can solve within 10-15 seconds.
  • Topics like Direction and Distances, Arrangement and Pattern, Blood Relations, Mathematical Inequalities, Coding-Decoding, and Syllogisms are easier to solve than other questions. Leave the puzzles for the end.

Time Management Tips for SSC CHSL – English Language

  • The English section will test your knowledge of the English language like RC, Active and Passive Voice, Direct Indirect Speech, Coding-Decoding, Vocabulary and Grammar (Error Spotting, Phrase Replacement & Fill in the blanks).
  • If you take 2 minutes to go through the entire English section before beginning it, you will have 8 minutes to complete it. In these 2 minutes, just go through the questions briefly.
  • A simple trick to ace RC is to read the question before reading the passage. This will help you solve the question quickly, and you don’t have to read the whole passage if you find the answer in the first few lines.
  • Then move on to Cloze Test, fill in the blanks and phrase replacement, etc. If Odd Man Out or Para Jumbles type questions are asked in the exam, then try to attempt the questions based on them in the end as they are a bit tricky.

Time Management Tips for SSC CHSL – General Awareness

  • Just take a quick look at all the questions within 2 minutes. You would then know the overall level of the section. You can now begin to attempt the questions which you know the answers to.
  • Solve each question within 30 seconds.
  • The GA questions will be of 10+2 level. You would either know the answer or you won’t.
  • Having Clarity of thought and a calm mind is the trick to cracking the GA section. You should be able to solve the questions you know without much thought.
  • If you are confused about a particular question, don’t overthink and waste time on it.

Carefully Allot Time for each Section

This is the order and time that you should give to each section:

  • First of all, read the question paper within 3 minutes.
  • Attempt the English Section within the next 10 minutes.
  • Now, move on to the GA Section, not spending more than 10 minutes on it.
  • The Quants sections can be a bit confusing, but spend only 15 minutes on it.
  • In the end, come to the Reasoning section and solve as many questions as possible within 15 minutes.
  • While reading the questions, make a mental note of the questions you can solve within 10-15 seconds. These are the questions that you need to attempt first.
  • Try not to spend more than 30 seconds on a question.
  • Most importantly, don’t let a question strike your ego. If you are unable to solve a question, just move on to the next one.
