SBI PO exam takes place in 3 stages – Prelims, Mains and Interview.

Here is the exam pattern to get you acquainted with the pattern SBI PO Examination 2018.

PRELIMS (Phase I)

The pattern, like SBI Clerk, will have sectional timing for the first time.

NOTE:

  1. As negative marking (penalty) for wrong answers, marks equal to one-fourth of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted.
  2. No negative marking for unattempted questions.
  3. No sectional cut offs.
  4. You have to qualify in all 3 sections, SBI will decide the cut offs for the same at its discretion.

MAINS (Phase II)

SBI PO Mains 2018 will be consist of 2 parts – Objective Test (200 marks) and Descriptive Test (50 marks). Both the parts will take place online.

Mains Descriptive Test

The descriptive paper will be of 30 minutes duration with 50 marks assigned to the test of English Language. You will be tested on Letter Writing & Essay. You will be needed to secure passing marks to qualify the Descriptive Test, to be decided by the Bank.

NOTE: The Descriptive Test paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who have scored qualifying marks in the Objective Tests and are placed adequately high as per total marks in Objective Test.

GROUP DISCUSSION & INTERVIEW (Phase III)

Aggregate marks of candidates qualifying in both Objective and Descriptive Tests will be arranged in descending order in each category. A certain adequate number of candidates as decided by the bank, will be called for the Group Discussion and Interview.

Test Max. Marks
Group Discussion 20
Interview 30
TOTAL 50

With this new pattern, we hope you start adjusting your strategies accordingly.
