India’s leading Insurance Company Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) had already done with the online application procedure for recruitment of Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO). For becoming an Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO) in LIC, it is compulsory to qualify the online exam conducted by LIC. Since, there will be 700 AAO job vacancies; you can expect huge competition through this selection process.

The exam will be of objective multiple choice type which will be conducted online. The overall duration for the exam is 120 minutes (2 hours) having 160 questions of 300 marks.

But there will be a penalty for every wrong answer given by you in the test. For every wrong answer ¼ of the marks will be deducted, while no penalty for un-attempted questions.

The nature of test for English language is qualifying and the marks obtained in this test would not be considered for ranking. The candidate is required to clear a sectional cutoff and also overall cutoff meant to qualify for personal interview.

Detailed Syllabus:

Let us look at the exam syllabus first. It was more or less similar to the IBPS PO & clerical cadre exam.

Reasoning: The below chapters are the most probable from which 30 questions could be asked:

  • Statement based questions
  • Syllogism
  • Seating arrangement
  • Coding –decoding, alpha numeric sequence
  • Puzzle- rank based, floor based, circular arrangement based
  • Blood relation
  • Analogy, odd one out

Quantitative Aptitude: This section shall consist of 30 questions that could be picked from the following chapters:

  • Number series or approximation
  • Time and work
  • Profit and loss
  • Average
  • Mixture and allegation
  • Simple and compound interest
  • Speed, distance and time
  • Data interpretation & Data Sufficiency
  • Mensuration
  • Permutations Combination & Probability

General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This section shall contain 30 questions from the following areas:

  • Current affairs questions will be from various sections like new appointments, recent sports developments, national and international news, awards and honors, new schemes etc.
  • General knowledge will be covered from topics like country-capital-currency-head, dance forms , famous places, dams, nuclear and thermal power stations etc.

Tips and Strategies:

  • Start with Computer or General Knowledge section.
  • Don’t go with instant answers carefully read all the options and go with a perfect answer.
  • Then choose English section try to attempt 25 – 27 accurately then you will be in safe zone. Don’t try to solve all the 40 questions by wasting all you time.
  • Then go to Reasoning or Aptitude where you fell much comfort. Don’t waste all the time in one particular question.

Important Points to Follow

  • Do not forget about negative marking
  • Manage your time properly
  • Play safe, otherwise it might become the troubling one
  • Practice as much as you can
