Following are some tips last minute tips and pointers on how to crack the exam:
The paper has four parts: Arithmetic, Algebra, Geometry and Trigonometry. The Geometry part is the most important. Do not forget to attempt Trigonometry as it can score a lot of marks for you. You will also need to learn percentages, ratios and calculating proportions.
Reasoning & General Intelligence:
The areas to focus on are: Analogy and classification, non-verbal reasoning, syllogisms, coding-decoding, blood relations, direction test and series. In the non-verbal module, you will be asked questions related to mirror image and water image, paper cutting, punching and folding, figural series completion and embedded figures.
Candidates need to focus on one-word substitution, idioms and phrases, synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks (sentence completion), sentence errors, reading comprehension, sentence rearrangement and jumbled-up sentences. You need to brush up on grammar for sentence-error correcting questions. At times, one-word substitutions, synonyms and antonyms, idioms and phrases based questions are repeated from previous years’ questions. It would be wise to study past SSC question papers.
Just like English, at times SSC repeats GK questions in its papers. Make sure you have revised previous years’ paper for this part. Current affairs do not carry that much weight-age so if you have not studied them, leave them alone. However, do not forget to revise the firsts in India, such as the first Indian to climb Mt. Everest, etc. Also, folk dances and traditional festivals, the Constitution, socio-religious movements of pre-independent India, national income & market structure, important scientific phenomena and medieval & modern Indian history.
