With the exam For GIC Officer scale 1 was held today, we are here for a complete analysis of how the paper was, what was the level, what were the major questions asked in the paper, and how can the candidates improve their score
Our Complete Analysis:
The level of GIC Officer Scale 1 was moderate. But the vacancies being less and paper being moderate the cutoff is expected to go higher than 110 marks. GIC Is expected to shortlist candidates for interviews in the ratio of 1:5. We have interviewed many candidates and average of them have attempted over 70 questions.
There were though many candidates who claimed to have attempted 85-90 questions/120 questions.

: Quant section was moderate. Questions were mostly on the pattern of banking exams. Questions were there from Speed maths, approximation, missing number ratio and proportion, profit loss and percentage and Data Interpretation. A few questions were a bit lengthy. Questions were related to day to day computers, computer architecture, DBMS, viruses, network security. An average attempt in the section was 17. As each question in this section carried 3 marks. Many Candidates solved a complete 30 in this section.
Reasoning section was easy. But it was divided in 2 phases 1 and 2
In Phase 1, 40 questions were asked in reasoning. Questions were asked from Syllogism, Coding Decoding, Inequality, logical reasoning, Other reasoning questions, like direction based, word puzzle, a very simple arrangement based question etc. Average Attempt in this section was 25. Some Candidates solved a above 34 in this section.
In Phase 2, 20 questions belonged to reasoning. It was simpler than phase 1. Average attempt was 16.
This Section covered current GK of past 3-4 months (mostly from Jan onwards), Insurance related questions, Questions on insurance companies, Calender events of 3 months etc. This section would have been very simple if aspirants have gone through current affairs. Questions were their from Wildlife Sanctuaries and important Days.
: English section was simple. Questions were primarily asked from English Comprehensions, 10 cloze test sets, 10 find the grammatical error, Rearrange the sentences, Vocabulary. On an average aspirants attempted 15/20 questions in the section. Marks of this section will not be added in the exam. You just need to clear the cutoff here
