  –The Union Cabinet approved a pact with Germany for cooperation in the field of occupational safety and health. The cabinet has approved the MoU between India and Germany on cooperation in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH).

  1. India, World Bank And Representatives Of 5 States Signed Loan Agreement For DRIP.

  -The World Bank, the Government of India and representatives of 5 States of Government of India and Implementing Agencies signed in New Delhi the Loan Agreement for Additional Financing of $137 Million for the Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP).

  1. India, Costa Rica Sign 2 Documents During Venkaiah Naidu’s Visit.

  -India and Costa Rica signed two documents during Vice President Venkaiah Naidu’s first visit to the Central American nation. The documents were signed and exchanged following talks between Naidu and Costa Rican President Carlos Alvarado Quesada.

  1. Subhash Chandra Garg Appointed As Finance Secretary.

  -The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved designating Shri Subhash Chandra Garg, lAS, Secretary, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance as Finance Secretary.

  -Soumya Swaminathan, a Deputy Director-General of the World Health Organisation has been named Chief Scientist of the WHO.

  – Distinguished scientist Ajit Kumar Mohanty was appointed Director of Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), the country’s premier multi-disciplinary nuclear research facility.

  1. United Bank, HDFC Life Sign Bancassurance Deal.

  -United Bank of India has signed a bancassurance deal with private life insurer HDFC Life Insurance Company.
