With many public sector organizations like LIC, National Insurance, Oriental Insurance etc. are coming up with recruitments. Job Profile of Assistant Administrative Officer (AAO):

As the name suggests, AAO job involves more of administrative work which includes:

  • managing and filing claims, client interactions
  • may include devising new schemes, inspecting policies
  • perform any other works as and when specified by dept. head/ administrative officer
  • coordinating with other department about a scheme/policy, provide assistance

AAO can be posted anywhere in India where the company. AAO is the Head of the Department which they were allotted at the time of Joining.. Other staff members include Assistants and Higher Grade Assistants. A person Joining as AAO is a Class I officer and this is the entry level officer job in Insurance Sector.

Departments in LIC:

Just like any other organization, LIC has different departments which deals with their respective issues. The departments include:

  • Sales

  • Policy Servicing
  • Office Servicing

Salary of AAO:

As per the standard pay scale for AAO’s in Public sector companies the pay scale for LIC AAO will be 17240-32640, which is pending for revision. Once it’s approved by the government, there will be expectation for increase in salary.

According to the recent LIC AAO recruitment notice, the monthly salary is approx. Rs.40, 245 per month including allowances in metropolitan cities. This amount will differ slightly in other cities. AAO’s are also entitled for PF, pension, LTC, 2/4 wheeler loans, medical benefits & much more.

Future Prospects:

Among the public sector insurance companies, LIC is the majority player with crores of policy holders. But, every organization has different ranks/designation in the hierarchy of the organizational structure. The promotion in LIC will be from time to time and there is no certification like JAIIB/CAIIB in insurance sector.
